Disciples of Christ
This past Spring our BSCC Christian Men’s Fellowship (with a little help from the ladies as well), went to Camp Caroline to help get a few of her Cabins cleaned and freshened up for the Summer Campers!
Our men are always up to something, why not come and join them?
We welcome newcomers to the BSCC Prayer Shawl Ministry. We knit, we crochet, and we pray nearly every Tuesday at 5:30 pm in the Youth Building, located to the back left of the church.
Join us. We will gladly teach you.
Welcome to Broad Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), located in the historic district of New Bern, North Carolina. We center our life together in the worship of God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Our worship style is traditional/blended with a celebration of Holy Communion every Sunday. The worship service begins at 11 am. We are an instrumental church, and our worship features the chancel bells, organ, and piano and occasionally an acoustic guitar. We do have elevator access to our beautiful and historic sanctuary.
Unto you, O, God, we give our thanks and lift our hearts in prayer. May your presence be with us and your love surround us as we work together in the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Open our eyes to the needs of the world and fill our hearts with concern for all people. Guide us that we may truly serve you, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
“God, be merciful unto us and bless us;And cause your face to shine upon us;That your way may be known upon the earth, your saving health among all nations,Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen”Psalms 67:1-2
The purpose of Disciples Women is to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education, and creative ministries to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ and to provide a channel through which women in the congregation and the regional Women’s Ministries in the United States and Canada may be joined in fellowship and find means for effective participation in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
The following scripture was chosen by our founder, Jessie Trout.
“That which we have seen and heard declare unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son, Jesus Christ.”
1 John 1:3
Called as partners in Christ’s service,
Called to ministries of grace.
We respond with deep commitment
Fresh new lines of faith to trace.
May we learn the art of sharing,
Side by side and friend with friend,
Equal partners in our caring
To fulfill God’s chosen end.
Christ’s example, Christ’s inspiring,
Christ’s clear call to work and worth,
Let us follow, never faltering,
Reconciling folk on earth.
Men and women, richer, poorer;
All God’s people, young and old,
Blending human skills together
Gracious gifts from God unfold.
Thus new patterns for Christ’s mission,
In a small or global sense,
Help us bear each other’s burdens
Breaking down each wall or fence,
Words of comfort, words of vision.
Words of challenge, said with care.
Bring new power and strength for action,
Make us colleagues, free and fair.
So God, grant us for tomorrow,
Ways to order human life
That surround each person’s sorrow
With a calm that conquers strife.
Make us partners in our living.
Our compassion to increase,
Messengers of faith, thus giving
Hope and confidence and peace.
